Till-Harvest History

In March of 1988 the Wabash, Indiana Allis-Chalmers dealership closed its doors leaving Wayne Guyer, a mechanic of 20 years, unemployed.  Wayne was raised on a farm and began working on farm machinery at the early age of 15.  He went on after high school to attend Nashville Auto Diesel College.  Wayne’s love was farm machinery and with a family to support, a decision about what to do needed to be made.  Knowing this, several local farmers approached Wayne with the idea to start his own machinery repair shop.  Having worked with Wayne over the years they were confident that this was the direction that Wayne needed to go.  These local farmers began supporting Wayne in his efforts to start his own business giving financial, emotional and physical support in the process.  By the end of March 1988 Till-Harvest officially opened its doors for business in a pole barn loaned to Wayne while the construction of the existing building was in progress.  The shop operated out of this building until November 1989 when the business moved into its current location on State Road 124.

Till-Harvest was established as a service facility for repair of all types of farm equipment, welding and fabrication.  Over the years those working for Till-Harvest have repaired, built and modified all types of equipment from antique restoration to experimental equipment.

Keeping up with changing times and technology is a continued challenge for the 4 employees of Till-Harvest.  Those that are employed by the company find that helping customers and friends to keep up with the changes in their livelihoods has its benefits and rewards.
